Breathnach encourages public to make submissions to County Development Plan

-The initial consultation phase is open for submissions now with the deadline Tuesday 26th November at 4:30pm
Fianna Fáil TD Declan Breathnach is encouraging the public to make submissions to Louth County Council on the new County Development plan 2021-2027. Louth County Council started the initial public consultation phase in September and the deadline for submissions is Tuesday 26th November at 4:30pm.

Breathnach commented “I would encourage members of the public to make submissions on the new County Development Plan. The Plan belongs to all the people of County Louth and will shape the future of planning and development in Louth. With the public’s help and guidance, the Council can create a plan that makes Louth a more attractive, inclusive, competitive and sustainable county.”

However, Breathnach noted that this initial public consultation phase was only to accept submissions on topics that have been laid out in Louth County Council’s “Issues paper”. This is available on the Louth County Council Website or any public library in Louth.

“Louth County Council confirmed to me that Submissions at this initial consultation case should not be regarding planning or zoning issues. They are only to be about what has been laid out in the Council’s “Issues paper”. These include submissions on Dundalk and Drogheda, Louth villages, Transport, Tourism, Community & Social Inclusion and the Environment.”

Breathnach concluded “Many constituents have contacted me with difficulties they have had in getting planning permission and this is largely due to the rules set out in the County Development plan. When the next consultation phase opens for submissions on planning and zoning, it’s very important that people who plan on applying for planning permission in the next few years make a submission to the Council.”
