Breathnach welcomes DKIT funding of €550K
– I would like to see the college pursue Technological University (TU) status to enable them benefit from further funding –
Fianna Fáil TD for Louth and East Meath Declan Breathnach has welcomed the announcement that DkIT has been awarded €550,000 funding by the Department of Education, as part the North-South cross border strategic alliance building projects, and higher education landscape restructuring.
“While this funding is very welcome it is “non TU” related and if DKIT were to pursue Technical University Status they could benefit from the €90 million in funding allocated to those Institutes involved in the TU process over the next three years. I hope to see DKIT engaging in the process to become established at a Technical University so that they can benefit from a share of large funding going to those colleges.
“However, today’s announcement is welcome. €300K of this funding announcement will be used for higher education landscape restructuring and €250K will go towards the North-South strategic alliance projects.
