Breathnach says Louth’s proud Tidy Towns record continues after Blackrock’s win

-This year’s success continues Louth’s proud tradition after 1988 and 2010 successes –
Fianna Fáil TD Declan Breathnach has congratulated Blackrock on winning Tidiest Small Town at the 2019 Tidy Towns Competition and says it has continued Louth’s proud tradition at the competition.

“We are very proud to have had two outright winners of the Tidy Towns competition in the last 30 years, with Carlingford winning in 1988 and Tallanstown in 2010.”

“It was a great day for Louth as a whole with Bronze medals for Knockbridge, Tallanstown and Carlingford and Gold Medals for Ardee, Blackrock, Drogheda and Dundalk. These results are testament to the history of co-operation and community spirit in Louth. This is a combination of a huge voluntary effort of tidy towns committees and support from local business, schools and community groups.

He continued “Groups have been supported by Louth County Council, The Heritage Council, along with CE Schemes with huge praise due to CE Supervisor Pat Rafferty in Blackrock. The Department of Rural and Community Development helps with funds in the form of the Town and Village Renewal Scheme. I’d encourage all Louth Tidy Town groups to continue using these supports and strive for another successful year in 2020.”
