Breathnach urges people to support Special Olympics Ireland in their Annual Collection Day Friday 5th April

– I met with families and organisers during their visit to the Dáil and their achievements are phenomenal –

Fianna Fáil TD for Louth and East Meath Declan Breathnach is urging people to support Special Olympics Ireland in their Annual Collection Day on Friday 5th April.

“I met with families and organisers today during their visit to Leinster House and saw first-hand the sheer joy of the athletes who returned recently from the World Games with a massive haul of 86 medals in total.

“I chatted with Fergal Gregory (bronze medal in kayaking) with his Mum and Dad and also with Francis Power from the Navan Arch Club, among others.  Francis won a silver medal in table tennis.

“Special Olympics Ireland currently has 7,985 registered athletes in 15 sports participating in 313 clubs around Ireland.  The benefits from this participation goes far beyond just the physical, as it provides opportunity for socialising and supporting each other.

“On Friday 5th April the Annual Collection Day for Special Olympics Ireland over 3,000 volunteers will take to the streets to help raise over €500,000 in vital funds.
