Breathnach calls for full Public Inquiry into the death of Shane O’Farrell
– we need a Public Inquiry into the lack of communication between PSNI and Gardaí so that this cannot be allowed happen again –

Fianna Fáil TD for Louth and East Meath Declan Breathnach spoke in the Dáil this week calling for a full Public Inquiry into the tragic death of Shane O’Farrell.

“My heart goes out to Lucia O’Farrell and her family on the death of their beloved son Shane.   Our justice system has failed the O’Farrell family in allowing the driver of the car involved escape the full rigours of the law.

“In 2016 after I met with Lucia O’Farrell I arranged for her to meet Micheál Martin and our Justice Spokesperson, Jim O’Callaghan.  Fianna Fáil has persistently called for a full Public Inquiry and this week I attended a Press Conference in the “Justice for Shane” campaign this week where some 20 plus TD’s and Senators supported the family in their quest for a Public Inquiry which is what they deserve.

“I spoke in the Dáil in the matter saying that this is a cross party issue, and all wish to see a public inquiry so that this is not allowed happen again.  I also stated that until we have proper information sharing between the Gardaí and the PSNI people will continue to be allowed move freely between both jurisdictions which will have grave consequences for public safety and in the area of child protection.
