– 400 new jobs over five years and approximately 700 construction jobs –

Fianna Fáil TD for Louth and East Meath Declan Breathnach has said he is delighted with the news that a major Chinese biopharmaceutical company WuXi Biologics has confirmed it has chosen Dundalk, Co Louth, as the location for its first global site. They will be investing €325 million and will create 400 new jobs over 5 years in addition to approximately 700 construction jobs.

“They will build the 26 hectare campus on the site at Mullagharlin, which is an ideal location, adjacent to the M1 motorway, and within easy reach of two international airports. The construction phase will provide approximately 700 jobs, and eventually 400 new jobs will be created over the next 5 years at the plant.”

“WuXi is a Hong Kong based firm that offers other multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies services needed to discover, develop and manufacture biologics. Dr. Chris Chen, CEO of WuXi Biologics said that they are committed to working with all local partners, and said that it will be the company’s first site outside of China”.

“This is brilliant news and I commend the IDA in its continued promotion of the region as an excellent location for new enterprise”, concluded Breathnach.
