– The new unit is long overdue and is necessary for mental health provision in the Louth/Meath area –

Fianna Fáil TD for Louth and East Meath Declan Breathnach has welcomed the opening of the new Department of Psychiatry building at Crosslanes, Drogheda by Minister Helen McEntee.

“This new modern facility is the result of campaigning by those who work in the area of mental health and the many people who use the mental health services”.

“This modern open setting providing accommodation in single en-suite rooms is in line with current national policy for mental health services and will allow privacy and dignity for the service users”.

“The HSE have stated that whilst service delivery, in the future may mean changes for service users it will provide a more meaningful, client centred, therapeutic and integrated care to support all service users both in our acute and community based services, and I very much welcome this.”

“We are very lucky to be benefiting from such a welcome addition to our mental health care for the Louth/Meath areas”.
