– The cancellation of this essential frequent service will cause disruption for students –
Fianna Fáil TD for Louth and East Meath Declan Breathnach has sought confirmation that the frequent bus service running between Drogheda Bus Station and both Drogheda Institute of Further Education and St. Oliver’s Community College have been cancelled.
“I have been informed by staff locally that both these services have been cancelled – not cut back as originally thought – but cancelled”.
“Staff have told me that both these routes were not on an official timetable but were organised as part of the town service. The NTA have informed the local station that these services may no longer run as they are not on an official timetable”.
“I have written to the Minister today to get confirmation and I have also sought confirmation from the NTA as to the reason behind the cancellation”.
“I have asked the Minister to intervene as if it just a time tabling issue he should be able to request Bus Éireann to put these routes on an official footing by having them officially time tabled”.
“This needs to be resolved as soon as possible to avoid severe disruption for students in the new school and college term which is just around the corner”.
